A founding director of RSMR, Ken began his career in the investment industry in 1989, shortly after graduating from Leeds University with a Degree in Economics and Economic History.
He joined Bradford & Bingley in 1990, where he held a number of product and marketing roles and latterly had responsibility for all financial services product development and pricing. In addition he was Investment Fund Manager for Bradford & Bingley’s PEP and ISA Discretionary Management business, where he controlled client funds in excess of £700m. Ken is ACII and IMC qualified.
Ken sits on the Investment Committee of a number of advisory firms to help them deliver their investment strategies. As a well-known figure on the UK investment circuit, Ken spends much of his time in face to face meetings with fund managers, which is vital in understanding how funds are managed.
In his spare time Ken has a busy family life, plays hockey and runs the odd marathon.
Geoff joined Eagle Star as a Graduate Trainee in 1969 and then moved to Phoenix Assurance. He joined Leeds Permanent Building Society as Insurance Services Manager, becoming MD of their IFA subsidiary company in 1989. After the merger with the Halifax he was appointed Operations Director for the combined IFA business.
He joined Bradford & Bingley in 1999 leading the Group Financial Services team which had responsibility for the development of strategy for the IFA channel, product development and research and overall advisory support. During this time Geoff has also contributed to many industry forums on IT, Distribution and market issues.
At RSMR Geoff leads business development strategy including the marketing and promotion of the company.
Geoff lives in Ilkley and has a busy life outside of work – he runs the odd 10K and also enjoys the odd pint!
Graham began his career in the investment industry over thirty years ago and has since worked in senior roles in a number of financial institutions. After graduating from the University of Kent with a Degree in Economic Analysis, History and Policy, he joined London & Manchester in 1979 as an Investment Trainee. He later joined Phillips Drew before gaining a position with GRE as a UK based fund manager. He then moved to Abbey Life Ireland, where he held the position of Chief Investment Officer and took personal responsibility for running their Managed and large Equity funds.
Seeing an increasing need for unbiased and critical analysis of investment funds, Graham established his own research consultancy in 1992, working with both UK and Irish based distributors. In 2004, Graham joined forces with RSMR as Director of Research, where his insight and highly regarded reputation in the investment world helped in the expansion of the RSMR rated funds service.
Graham lives in Ireland with his wife Linda, but spends several weeks per year travelling internationally to meet with fund managers based overseas in places such as Hong Kong, Singapore and Sydney.
Robin joined the Board as NED in June 2014 and brings with him a wealth of experience in the asset management sector.
He previously led the distribution strategy and fund development at Cazenove Capital and prior to this worked at HSBC Asset Management and Henderson Global Investors.
He also holds a NED role at River and Mercantile Group.
Andrew provides detailed analysis to support the research team and joined RSMR after working in industry where he continued to maintain a close interest in the financial world, studying for and completing exams for the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI). Prior to that Andrew worked in the Strategic Planning & Group Treasury teams at the former Halifax/HBOS bank. He is currently an Associate Member of the CISI and holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC).
In his spare time Andrew plays squash, attends the gym and enjoys a keen interest in science fiction.
Client Services Assistant
Angela assists Caroline with all operational and client service delivery and joined us after 25 years with HMRC.
At HMRC, Angela was responsible for managing and leading a team to ensure the necessary quality controls and checks were being met.
She has always been involved in the service and quality area and received the HMRC Pacesetter Award for outstanding team work and support to colleagues. It’s these skills and qualities that she brings to RSMR.
Angela has a busy family life and loves the odd trip to Scarborough and beyond!
Director of Operations
Caroline graduated from Leeds University with a Degree in Economics and Business Management and then joined Commercial Union where she worked for four years as a Broker Consultant in the Leeds area.
She joined the Leeds Permanent Building Society and then on its merger with the Halifax spent four years with Halifax Financial Services where she was responsible for research and analysis for both the tied and independent channels. Caroline joined Bradford & Bingley in 2000 where she continued her research role in support of the IFA salesforce which at one stage numbered in excess of 1,000 advisers.
Caroline manages the operational side of the business over-seeing all work output and the delivery of our client service proposition where her attention to detail is key.
Caroline lives just north of Skipton and enjoys the lovely Yorkshire countryside and walking her dogs.
Business Development Manager (Advisers)
Jon works with Geoff and Nigel in the Business Development team where he focuses on key relationships with our existing and new advisory client firms. Jon joined RSMR from Macmillan Cancer Support, where he led in the development of a unique financial guidance service tailored to the needs of cancer patients and their families.
Before this, Jon spent many years with HSBC Global Asset Management. He brings a wealth of relationship management experience – having worked with advisers, wealth managers and DFM’s. He travelled internationally in his role at HSBC, but some years ago made the decision to return to Yorkshire to be closer to his family. Jon lives locally with his partner and young son and outside of work he enjoys family life, rugby league and real ale.
Investment Research Manager
Patrick joined RSMR as an Investment Research Manager in 2017. His primary responsibilities include fund manager research and selection across the Investment Association universe and advisory work for intermediary clients. He is a member of the asset allocation and sector review committees at RSMR. Prior to joining RSMR, Patrick worked as an investment manager at BCWM where he managed a portfolio of private and corporate clients advising on pensions, investments and estate planning. Patrick began his career qualifying as a Chartered Accountant (ACA) with Crowe Horwath. He holds a MSc Finance from Trinity College Dublin and has passed CFA level I.
Investment Research Manager
Robin joined RSMR in 2018 as Investment Research Manager & Portfolio Manager for the Rfolios discretionary portfolio service.
He has been in the industry for nearly 20 years. After starting his career in Leeds at a firm of stockbrokers he moved in 2004 to BWD Rensburg, which later became Investec Wealth & Investment, as a discretionary investment manager. He managed the portfolios for a wide range of private clients, trusts and charities. Then, after a brief spell as a wealth advisor, he joined the wealth management arm of a regional law firm, managing the investments for a number of families, their pensions and trusts. There, he was also part of the research team and asset allocation committee member that was responsible for maintaining the firm’s investment models.
Marketing Liaison Officer
Sarah joined RSMR in April 2018 and works alongside Simon in supporting the marketing activity for our key Enterprise Accounts.
After graduating from Manchester University Sarah has worked in retail and has just relocated to London so is handy to meet with the asset management community focusing on content for the Hub, our Invest magazine and helping with new projects.
In her spare time Sarah likes to explore the city, travel to new places with her husband and keeps healthy and active regularly participating in running events.
Business Development Manager (Fund Groups)
Simon works with Geoff in the Business Development team where he focuses on key relationships with our existing and new fund management groups.
Having worked for Legal & General for 9 years as the Fund Relationship Manager, and previously at Bradford and Bingley for 22 years in various financial services roles, Simon brings a wealth of relationship management experience, through his work with fund management groups. He travelled extensively throughout England during his time at Legal & General and Bradford and Bingley, to take up various appointments whilst furthering his career.
Simon lives in Colchester with his wife and both his grown up children live close by. Outside of work Simon enjoys, squash, walking and food and wine.
Investment Research Manager
Stephen began his career in financial services in 1983 having graduated from the University of Leicester with a degree in Economics & Economic History. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments, has a Diploma in Financial Planning and an Investment Management Certificate.
Prior to joining RSMR in 2015, he was Head of Investment Solutions at Ashcourt Rowan (formerly UK Wealth Management and Yorkshire Investment Group). Before that he ran the investment division of Pointon York and he worked as a discretionary portfolio manager at David Booler & Co. In these roles, he gained extensive experience in fund research, building investment propositions (advisory & discretionary) and working with clients, advisors & investment managers.
Stephen lives in Ackworth and enjoys being walked by his dog, reading books and relaxing with his wife.
Investment Research Manager
Stewart joined RSMR in August 2011 and has played a key role in the development of the market-leading RSMR ratings service and also manages a large number of bespoke advisory portfolios on behalf of a wide range of IFA clients. He is lead Portfolio Manager for the Rfolios discretionary portfolios having been involved since their launch as well as the management of the preceding advisory portfolios from their launch back in 2015.
Stewart joined RSMR from Honister Capital where he was part of the internal research team responsible for fund and product research, including construction of the recommended fund and product lists for the company’s financial advisers involving, amongst other aspects, face-to-face meetings with fund managers and attending conferences.
